Round 1 Rules

Each player starts with 1,600 points. There are 16 questions. You will have up to 16 seconds after the question is read to answer. Every four seconds, the value of the question decreases. Hints in the form of answer choices are provided after four seconds, with choices removed after every four subsequent seconds until sixteen seconds elapse. Only your first answer is accepted. A correct answer gets you points; a wrong answer loses you points.

Questions increase in value from 100 to 1,600 points throughout the round. The player who gives the first correct answer gains control of choosing the next category. If no player gives a correct answer, then control of choosing the next category does not change from the previous question.

In order to advance to Round 2, you need to: have a positive score, answer at least one question correctly, and be in the top 4 scorers.

Those who answer zero questions correctly automatically receive zero points at the end of the game.

Round 2 Rules

There are 16 questions. The goal is to answer each of the questions as quickly as possible. The number of points you receive is related to the number of seconds left when you answer each question; the value is positive if the answer is correct, the value is negative if the answer is incorrect.

At the end of this group of 16 questions, the average (for math nerds: arithmetic mean) points earned per question becomes a multiplier which is applied to your round 1 score to get your final score. If your average is negative, you will be assigned a multiplier of zero.
